Pick Your Poison Love

We want what we can’t have,
We want what we shouldn’t,
We want what doesn’t want us,
And what is just out of distance,
Pick your poison,
And let it kill you slowly
with the sweet taste of desire,
Don’t shoot it hard and fast,
That would be too easy,
Let it burn, smooth and slow,
So that when you swallow
the last drop,
You’re fighting fire with fire,
And you remember what it felt like
to rekindle the flame,
So that maybe
Just maybe
you’ve learned your lesson for next time.
Desire can’t be taken like a shot,
It’s too expensive for that,
We must savor the sweet burn,
Or rather avoid it altogether,
Because it’s too easy to get drunk on.
